Balmain Designer Has Been Named

Balmain Fashion house has annouced the replacement to Designer Christophe Decarnin who recently left, French designer Olivier Rousteing.

It has been confirmed that Rousteing will supervise the design and development of the brand's men's and women's ready-to-wear collections, and from 2009 Rousteing had been in charge of the womenswear studio.
- Fashion Telegraph

Olivier Rousteing studied Fashion at ESMOD University in Paris in 2003 and spent 5 years working at Roberto Cavalli, where he designed men and womens clothing

This coming October Rousteing will debut at Paris Fashion Week with Balmain's spring/summer 2012 collection. He told WWD how he wanted to ensure that the label, which was founded by Pierre Balmain in 1945, "always remains one of the leading brands that others look to as a reference".

I wonder if Rousteing will continue the look Decarnin bought to Balmain 'Rock Chic'. Wish him all the best and Can Not Wait to see the creations he brings to the Runway

Safety Pin Your Clothes

Who said safety pins are meant to be hidden on clothes? Just look at Balmain's Spring/Summer 2011 collection, full of safety pins. Former designer for Balmain, Christophe Decarnin invested in a dozen pins creating a more edgier rock and roll look than usual on short shorts, skirts and jackets...
Seriously who would've thought it would look good? Just Love how Decarnin mind thinks!

Balmain Without Christophe Decarnin!!!!

What will Balmain do without creative director Christophe Decarnin??? Fashion House Balmain announced on Wednesday, Decarnin leaves Balmain.

A rep tells The Daily Beast ' that there were "work differences" between the house and the designer, and that a replacement will be announced shortly'.

Speculation began at Paris Fashion week when Decarnin was absent from the autumn/winter 2011 runway show. After being "tired" Balmain's owner M.Alain Hivelin tells Telegraph fashion director, Hilary Alexander backstage, "after working on the collection he didn't go to bed until 5am, he's not here, he's resting". Rumour has it Decarnin is "depressed" and "not well".

Since Decarnin joined in 2005 he transferred the label, creating a fresh new look to French fashion house, Balmain was back in the spotlight. There wasn't a body in Hollywood that didn't touch a Balmain design, even magazines couldn't resist.

The shoulderpad glam punk rock- meets high end creative director will be truly missed. Decarnin collections were always on top and everyone wanted be wearing Balmain. Credited for "Balmania", the hot collection ripped T-shirts and jeans which were worth thousands of dollars were one of the highlights to Balmain and Decarnin career.
Lets hope Decarnin will back for a fresh new start. As for Balmain they will announce who will take over in a few days.
